Are You Talkin' To Me?

It appears everyone's fun loving pal, Joan, has been including me in some of her posts lately. Since I have not returned to her blog, I was completely unaware, but a few bloggers have brought it to my attention, so I popped on over, one last time to see what was up. From what she has been saying, it looks like Grumpy Bastard's place as my BFF is secure.

I haven't gone back to her site because I think she is a non-issue. She does not say, do, or post a single bit of helpful, inspiring, funny, educational, or thought provoking information. I get nothing from her. She doesn't upset me as I have zero respect for her or her mission, so I feel my time can be better spent doing almost anything else.

I have a deep admiration for the other bloggers that are standing up to her and calling her out for what she is, here is another fine example of someone doing just that, but for me I think my efforts are better served helping other victims stop being victims.

Joan has no desire to stop being a victim. For whatever reason, living a life of fear filled with anger and hatred serves her well. That mindset only served to make me fell empty, alone and hopeless, so I chose to find a better more constructive way to live my life and my life's mission is to help others do the same.

To be honest, I don't think Joan is much of an adversary. The number of people who are buying into the idea that it is the responsibility of the government to protect them is dwindling at an astonishing rate. Just look at what is going on in Wisconsin. Just look at the numbers climbing for gun ownership among women. Just look at the growing numbers for gun sales in general.

Empty rhetoric is not sustainable. The comments that are left on her posts prove that. The last one had 3. One was from our Jennifer, one was from Joan, and one was from the only guy that appears to support her. People get tired of being scared and angry and eventually they want solutions.

I think the best thing I can do for victims is to share my story and to give real solid resources to help them either avoid being a victim or help them heal from it.

I intend to spend my days doing just that.

This. You have something worthwhile to say and the advice/help you offer is constructive. I'm not new to the gunnie thing, but you give me things to think about--and maybe I can pass 'em on, secondhand, when I meet women who need a perspective like yours instead of mine.

What Sarah said.

Women like you blow the "Joan" clean out of the water.

She's a sideshow, but an evil sideshow. Her advice gets people killed. She wants other people to be as helpless as she has chosen to be.

I, like you, visited these sites when I was getting started. I thought some level headed thinking was needed. I was a daily debated on Mikeb302000 for around 6 months. Right up until he stated that a woman should accept being raped. I went ballistic and refused to return or ever acknowledge him again. Joan is just stupid and pig headed, her I see as totally ignorant on any truth other than the unicorns that she believes exist.

Joan is a lost girl, you are a woman in every sense!

Debating these folk is a lost cause for the most part. Their emotions drive their lives. Facts simply aren't relevant to them.

"To my mind it is wholly irresponsible to go into the world incapable of preventing violence, injury, crime, and death. How feeble is the mindset to accept defenselessness. How unnatural. How cheap. How cowardly. How pathetic." - Ted Nugent

"False is the idea of utility that sacrifices a thousand real advantages for one imaginary or trifling inconvenience; that would take fire from men because it burns, and water because one may drown in it; that it has no remedy for evils, except destruction. The laws that forbid the carrying of arms are of such a nature and disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes... Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson's Commonplace Book, 1774-1776, quoting from "On Crimes and Punishment" by criminologist Cesare Beccaria, 1764

And finally, Col Cooper (you knew it was coming!):

"Taking a long view of history, we may safely say that anyone who lays down his arms deserves what he gets."

Not doubting you at all, but I must have missed that doozy. What the hell is he thinking.

Ok, now you're becoming frighteningly good at making a point. I respond to one of your comments on another blog and come here and find this. I will be honest, I was a little concerned at what the lack of tact from Joan might do to you. I can see I was worried for no reason. You could dance circles around Joan when it comes to helping a victim overcome their past. It's a no-brainer, really. Wallow in it vs overcome it. Good post.

You guys...to good to me!

Tango Juliet- lol, I said to my husband, I am surprised he didn't quote Col Cooper and then, you did.

45er, is it wrong to say that it made my heart smile when you said you were concerned for me? Thank you for caring.

I've refrained from debating Joan because so many others have widened the gap in her intellectual chasm that she can't afford to lose any more debates. Kudos to all of you for taking her on.

MikeB2000 (or whatever he calls himself) isn't an American, but from Italy- if I recall correctly, so don't quote me on it. I do recall that discussion, but when I tried finding it later to post it, the thing was missing, so Mike was given a pass on it.
Haven't heard much from him lately, so he's probably changed his name oor got shut down.
Now it's JaPete and Baldy Odor who've give most out of whack verbiage against guns.

Wow, I had to go and read some of "Ms Joan" after this...Bless your heart for not letting her calling you out get under your skin. This appears to be a closed mind who wants to dictate to the rest of us...

I made a reply to one of her posts and she basically "talked down" to me. That was enough for me.

The old saying that "misery loves company" comes to mind when I read her blog.

I prefer the company of other gunnies....

People like Joan, and Carolyn McCarthy (D-NY), and other professional victims have a vested interest in remaining a victim. Victim-hood allows them to proclaim special status, granting them attention and empathy from those who are like them in their passive mindset. They are sheep, willing to be sheared (or slaughtered), in order to remain a part of their chosen herd.

Pointing out their choice of victim-hood calls into view a truth that they do not wish to see, and denies them unwarranted attention and power. Therefore, they will censor anybody who dares to bring facts into their discussion. Their mindset is powered by emotion, not logic.

Your decision to move past the victimization and into empowerment is a choice that Joan and her ilk will never make. Because, doing so would remove their ability to exercise power over others. Empowering yourself removed you from their sphere of influence, and exposed their lies for what they truly are: a way to victimize others by attempting to deny them their chance to avoid victim-hood themselves.

They need more victims in order to remain relevant. Pretty pathetic if you ask me.
