Larry left this comment to my post Protest "It is wrong. Which is why I'm on the air and broadcasting as loud as I can. Bastards will have to send the black helicopters in for me".
I think he makes a good point and if you go to his site, he explains it further. I am generally not a fan of protest and boycotts, but sometimes I think it is important to stand up, publicly for what you believe in. How one does that can vary. I was happy to see that while we displayed our contempt for the issue differently, we both did something.
The main reason I did not post on my blog or FaceBook yesterday was because I think this nation is becoming very lazy and very selfish and it appears that most people do not have a clue what is going on. I have to believe this because otherwise I would think there would be more outrage. It appears that people live in a fog and only stand up and fight when the cause effects them. I thought perhaps if people were inconvenienced by not being able to do what they wanted online, they might try to figure out what was happening and then maybe, just maybe stand up against it. Now, I don't think that anyone cares if I blog or not and generally the people who read my blog are already the kind of people who stand up for their principals and fight, but I also thought it was important for me to support the bigger issue because I think what is going on in our government is sickening.
Anyway, since I chose not to be online yesterday, I picked up my 13 year old and her friend from school and we spent the day eating and shopping. At one of the stores I saw a sign that I thought perfectly stated my life's motto, so I bought it...
Absolutely True |
I Made One Minor Adjustment |
Sounds like an excellent plan! :)
ReplyDeleteI like the adjustment!
ReplyDeleteYou certainly have the "Inspire someone" part of that motto nailed down tight. Fantastic!
ReplyDeleteLol if I go any bigger I might as well just carry my 12ga.
ReplyDeleteLove the sign and the adjustment.
ReplyDeleteGreat post, and love the sign. Wish more people were as upset about NDAA as they are about SOPA/PIPA.
ReplyDeleteGreat sign and modification!
ReplyDeleteThat is outstanding!
ReplyDeleteLove the sign!
ReplyDeleteI think the problem, as John alludes to above, is that there are so many outrageous things coming out of this Congress/administration that most of us are on outrage burnout. We just sit around hoping that someone who can make a difference up there sees how crazy it's getting and changes stuff. We are tired of beating our head against a wall and seeing things get more, not less repressive with every administration.
*sigh* And we practice on a regular basis with our firearms, just in case Prince Charming isn't coming to save us. I sure do hope that all this noise makes a difference, but I'm not as hopeful about it as I used to be.
The Lost Goat, I hear ya and I agree. I have been a little less then inclined to jump up and down about the injustices of the world, but I have a renewed energy, so I thought I would join the fist shaking crowd again. Let's hope we can get something accomplished:)
ReplyDeleteGoat has a point there. Its kinda like kids today being desensitized to violence by all the games and TV shows and music they're exposed to at very young ages these days. There's been a steadily increasing amount of stupidity in our elected officials over the years (something in the water, perhaps?), until we're just burned out and so sick of politics in general that those who WOULD do good if elected have no desire whatsoever to touch politics with a 1000-yard scope. And while I try to practice with my firearms on a fairly regular (if infrequent) basis, I'm not looking for any sort of Prince Charming. His sister, maybe. *evil grin*
ReplyDelete...hope my wife doesn't read this post...LOL
We must be thinkin' along the same lines... considering my post yesterday...
